Development of novel forage system for mixed farms in the higher rainfall areas

Penny’s research is evaluating intercropping in the medium to high rainfall zones of southern Australia. Her evaluation will feature a double row spacing intercropping trial, that evaluates an alternative crop species to cereals and an alternative pasture species to lucerne, and how the system performs in comparison to sole pasture and cropping systems.

Penny’s research falls into the CRC’s Program 2 research area and is related to the EverCrop and EverDecide project

Objective:

• To show that pasture and grain intercrops can be more productive and efficient for the medium to high rainfall zones of Southern Australia.
